Cloud NAT
Cloud NAT (Network Address Translation) in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) enables outbound internet access for resources without external IP addresses, such as VM instances in private subnets. It allows secure and controlled access to the internet while keeping the resources hidden from external inbound connections.

Cloud NAT is used with Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) networks and works in combination with a Cloud Router. When instances in a private subnet need to send outbound traffic (like software updates or accessing APIs), Cloud NAT translates their private IP addresses to public IP addresses, allowing the response traffic to return correctly.

Key Features:
No need for external IPs on individual VMs.

Ensures security by allowing only egress traffic.

Fully managed service – auto-scales based on demand.

Works with Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), and Cloud Functions.

Supports TCP, UDP, and ICMP protocols.

Can use auto-allocated or custom static IPs.

Integrates with VPC Flow Logs for monitoring and auditing.

Region-specific but supports multiple subnets in the same region.

Cloud NAT is ideal for organizations that need to protect their internal resources while still allowing them to access the internet for updates, downloads, or API calls. It provides a cost-effective and secure alternative to assigning external IPs to every resource.

In summary, Cloud NAT allows secure, scalable, and private outbound internet access for GCP workloads without exposing them to the public internet.
